WE TAKE OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Games have been with people since time immemorial. In games we measure ourselves against each other in terms of skill, performance or luck. It takes us away from everyday life into another world of joyful anticipation and entertainment. The vast majority of our guests find pleasure, entertainment and meeting other people in our land-based casinos and the associated online casinos. But there are also people who exceed their own limits when playing and harm themselves and those around them. There are few of them, but every one is one too many.
By granting the casinos licenses, the federal government has transferred economic rights to us and linked these to responsible conduct. We, the casinos of Switzerland, are aware of this privilege and the responsibility that comes with it. We fully support the law and the legislator's intentions. That is why we implement effective and sustainable player protection. With a common player protection code, we have committed ourselves to strict protective measures for our guests.

OUR ATTITUDE
We protect our guests
Protecting players is an important foundation that has positive long-term effects. Effective player protection strengthens our image and ensures long-term business success.
We don't look away
It is challenging to determine whether and when excessive gaming behavior or a gaming addiction is present. Nevertheless, there are many ways today to identify at-risk players at an early stage, especially in the online sector. Together with leading experts in gaming addiction research and technology (AI), we are developing state-of-the-art methods for the early detection of at-risk individuals. It is important to us to identify at-risk players and to enter into a binding dialogue with them as early as possible, even at the risk of losing them as customers.
With the joint code we protect you from illegal offers
Effective and credible player protection requires transparency about our intentions and measures. All casinos in Switzerland have adopted this code and declared the specific measures binding.
With this code we want to clearly distance ourselves from illegal providers, especially from foreign online casinos that operate illegally in Switzerland. They offer no player protection, circumvent the legal provisions on player protection and do not pay any contributions to the AHV. The offers and advertising of illegal providers must therefore be consistently combated.

01
We continuously train our employees.
Good player protection is based on many years of experience and broad specialist knowledge. That is why we regularly and systematically exchange information within the industry, participate in research programs and seek to exchange ideas with experts. We pool this knowledge and train our employees so that they can identify players at risk at an early stage. Our employees know our stance and support it. Our measures: · Each casino provides special employees who are specially trained in player protection and who take responsibility for it. · All employees who have contact with guests receive training and receive annual training in player protection. · We develop specialist training courses in player protection together with universities. · We organize a regular exchange of experiences and discuss best practice measures in order to continuously improve player protection.
02
Our early detection is effective.
In contrast to illegal providers, the controlled environment in Swiss casinos allows players to be observed. Effective early detection methods are of central importance for player protection. They help us to identify at-risk players at an early stage and to initiate protective measures in good time. We therefore rely on systematic and, where possible, technology-supported methods, which we are continually developing. Our measures: · We invest in research and development of instruments to improve the early detection of at-risk players. · Each casino sets criteria for the early detection of at-risk people, taking into account the different risks for the terrestrial and online areas. · Our employees are trained to recognize critical behavior at an early stage and to take action. · Online, players are required to set a maximum stake or loss limit (per day, week or month).
03
We clarify each situation carefully.
If early detection measures or other events require clarification of the circumstances of players, we are legally obliged to intervene in the privacy of guests and to request access to bank documents, pay slips, living conditions, etc. This is necessary in order to make the right decision to protect players, which can go as far as banning them from playing. Our motto is: as little as possible, as much as necessary. Our measures: · In order to correctly match gaming behavior with financial possibilities, we need conclusive information. We make decisions exclusively on the basis of a careful and comprehensible analysis. · We attach the greatest possible importance to protecting the privacy of our guests and only request as much documentation as is necessary. The aim is to make the right decision with as few documents as possible. · We ensure that guests' personal and financial data is protected and only used for lawful purposes. We have clear guidelines for storing and processing player data in accordance with applicable data protection law.
04
We exclude vulnerable people from the game.
The gaming ban is the most drastic measure we can take to protect at-risk players. Swiss casinos apply it consistently to avoid the risk of gambling addiction or other negative circumstances for players. This sets us apart from illegal providers who do not guarantee player protection. Our measures: · We ban players if we know or suspect that - they are over-indebted or do not meet their financial obligations, - they place bets that are disproportionate to their income and assets and - they are addicted to gambling (based on a report from a specialist agency or social authority). · Anyone can have themselves banned at any time. · We check and ban players if relatives, friends or third parties inform the casino that they are at risk or are gambling beyond their means. · A gaming ban in a casino always automatically applies to all other land-based and online casinos in Switzerland, as well as to the online games of Swisslos and Loterie Romande. · All gaming bans are entered in a common register (Veto ban register). Before the game, all casinos check whether a person is allowed to play using an official ID. · A gaming ban is valid for an indefinite period of time and can only be lifted if there is no longer any reason for it. A cantonally recognized specialist agency is always involved in the lifting process.
05
We protect young people especially
Young people under the age of 18 are not allowed to play in land-based and online casinos. For young adults aged 18 and over, the risk of gambling beyond their means is particularly high. We therefore protect them with special measures. Our measures: · Young people under the age of 18 are consistently denied access to play in land-based and online casinos based on the inspection of an official ID. · To protect young adults over the age of 18, online casinos set special criteria for investigations. · We do not advertise to young people under the age of 18.
06
Facciamo pubblicità con moderazione.
Swiss casinos do not use intrusive or misleading advertising. For example, messages that winnings are not dependent on chance, that they can solve financial or personal problems or that they can compensate for losses already incurred are misleading. Advertising aimed at minors and banned persons is prohibited. Aggressive advertising comes from illegal foreign online casinos that do not offer any player protection. Licensed Swiss online casinos must distinguish themselves from these in their advertising. Our measures: · We do not advertise on TV before 10 p.m. · Our advertising is not aimed at children, young people or vulnerable people. Where technically possible, we exclude them from our advertising in social and electronic media. · We mark our advertising with a warning (“Play responsibly”). · We indicate in our advertising that it is an approved Swiss online casino.
07
Verifichiamo regolarmente l’efficacia delle nostre misure e lavoriamo a stretto contatto con servizi specializzati.
We follow addiction research and incorporate new findings into our player protection concepts. At the same time, we regularly check the effectiveness of our measures and adapt them if necessary. We regularly work with addiction specialist agencies to train our employees or to lift gaming bans. Our measures: · We regularly check the effectiveness of our player protection concepts as an industry as a whole and bring in experts. · Every casino works with a cantonally recognized specialist agency to lift gaming bans. · The Swiss Casino Association has a permanent player protection specialist group, which also includes external experts.
08
Le nostre azioni sono trasparenti.
Our responsibility and transparency include openly informing the public about the risks of gambling and enabling them to gamble safely. To this end, we offer private individuals, experts, authorities, politicians and the media comprehensive background information. Our measures: · We provide comprehensive information, assistance (tests or applications for a gambling ban) and background knowledge on the subject of casino gambling, player protection and gambling addiction on a shared Internet platform. · We provide our guests with an information flyer that they can use to find out about visiting a casino and the risks of gambling. · At least every five years, we as an association inform the public about the risks of gambling and the help available. · We are committed to clear and transparent communication of the rules of the game as well as the chances of winning and payout ratios.
